City Slash is my single-player action RPG under the Nikas Dev name. Short runs move through four districts, with part of your progress carried between attempts. This guide explains the basic loop and suggests a simple way to learn it.
1. Set a small goal
Your first attempt does not have to be a complete clear. Choose one task: get used to movement, learn attack range or see a boss attack. After a short attempt, it is easier to assess a specific action than reconstruct an entire chaotic fight.
The starting Hero has a circular attack, dash and healing. First locate the controls and try each action in a situation you understand. Avoid using everything together just because the buttons are available; leave yourself an option for the next moment.
2. Separate run progress from permanent progress
Combat experience and temporary boosts belong to the current attempt. A new run starts at the first combat level. Collected crystals and permanent upgrades remain, and crystals can be spent in the hub. Defeat therefore does not erase everything.
On returning, check what you kept and read the available upgrade descriptions. Choose around the problem you had in the previous attempt. If you did not understand why you took damage, observing the enemy again may help more than randomly changing your entire approach.
3. Watch attacks and leave an escape route
Enemies use wind-ups, warnings and directional attacks. The forest boss, the Great Dark Boar, makes fast straight charges. It is a useful example for learning to watch an enemy’s direction as well as your own attack.
Try spending a short part of the fight on recognizing the dangerous moment. Notice when you began to move and whether there was space to the side. This is a practice exercise, not a guaranteed winning tactic; the outcome depends on the situation and your actions.
4. Learn the district sequence
The route leads from the residential district to the construction site, forest and castle. Each has its enemies and boss: Homeless Dad, the Drunk Foreman, the Great Dark Boar and the Rift Guardian. Entering a new area is a reason to look around and identify threats.
Do not assume one familiar button answers every encounter. Once an earlier district feels more comfortable, dedicate the next attempt to learning a new enemy. Progress becomes concrete: an encounter, an observation and another test.
5. Try another character when available
Create Gaming can be played for free in the castle. Defeating the Guardian unlocks him for the first three districts. His sword, life drain, fireball and rage provide a different approach from the starting Hero.
